Synopsis
Awaiting for his guests for his 30th birthday, JAD fights against the demons of his past alone in his room. Having died on his birthday, JAD commemorates both the disappearance of his mother and the day of his birth, but this is the first time that he is not in his native Lebanon. Since he immigrated to Paris, the ghost of his mother has haunted him more than usual. In a dream, he pursued her relentlessly through the streets of Paris, holding a camera, trying to capture the expression on her face one last time, but like every time, this moment escapes him, and he wakes up, frustrated, with a feeling of incompleteness.
Today, surrounded by his best Parisian friends who came to wish him a happy birthday, his camera does not seem to be working properly. For once, on this particular day, his camera decided to show him reality. Its real. In each photo taken, JAD is alone. Becoming aware of his isolation, his homesickness, his nostalgia, he experiences this event like images from beyond the grave. Feeling dizzy, he sees his mother, coming out of the kitchen and leaving a birthday cake for her 8-year-old double, placed among his friends in her living room, before leaving his house. JAD starts chasing his mother through the streets of Paris before catching up with her and taking her photo. But this time, he managed to capture one last smile from his mother, inviting her to complete her mourning, and to move forward.
